- A shop-made full-penetration weld is made
at pole to node connections.
- Hand-hole access location is also provided
in the cast alloy steel node.
- Arms are simply slipped onto the cast
node in the field and snug-tightened
through bolts are used.
The innovation in the MonoCast system comes from the use of a standard library of cast-steel alloy nodes and slid-on friction connections for mast arm and luminaire arms.
The cast steel alloy nodes smooth the stress paths from the horizontal arms to vertical poles thereby eliminating the fatigue-sensitive detail categories found in current design and fabrication practice for these structures. The slip-on connection facilitates faster erection as there are no high-strength bolts to presentation in the connections from mast-arms and luminaire arms to poles. The innovative design results in inspection-free systems.
